Looking for an Inspectlet alternative? Here is how we compare.

Inspectlet has been recording website visits for a long time. If you are looking around, here is what GetSiteTape does differently, where Inspectlet may still fit you better, and how to try both side by side.

Free for 1,000 replays a month. No card needed.

What you get with GetSiteTape.

Built for people who want the reason behind a drop and do not have time to watch every visit.

One lightweight script

It loads asynchronously and records page changes, not video, so your pages stay as fast as they were.

The problems come to you

Visits with rage clicks and JavaScript errors are flagged and put first, so you start with the ones that matter.

Errors beside the replay

Console messages, JavaScript errors and failed requests sit next to the recording. Click one and the player jumps there.

Ad Replay

Visits from Meta, Google, Microsoft and TikTok ads are grouped by campaign and ad, with bounce and scroll depth for each.

Alerts when something breaks

A message by email, Slack or webhook when a new error appears or rage clicks spike, with a link to the recording.

Forms and funnels

The field where people give up, and the step where they drop out of a journey, each with the visits behind the number.

In the player

The visit, and what broke during it.

Red markers on the timeline show rage clicks and errors. The insights beside the replay say what happened in plain words, and one click copies a bug report with the steps to reproduce.

  • Errors with their file and line
  • Failed requests with their status and timing
  • A share link for your developer, with the moment marked

Example data

When Inspectlet may suit you better.

Switching is only worth it if it helps. Stay where you are if one of these is you.

You run A/B tests in it

Inspectlet offers A/B testing alongside its recordings. GetSiteTape does not run experiments, so you would need a separate testing tool.

You depend on years of history

Old recordings cannot be moved between tools. If you need to search them often, keep the account that holds them.

Your team is happy with it

If it answers your questions and people use it every week, the best tool is the one you already have.

What we say about Inspectlet is a general description, not a feature-by-feature claim. Products change, so check inspectlet.com for current details. Inspectlet is a trademark of its owner.

Compare our plans   How we compare with other tools

Try it next to Inspectlet. Then decide.

  1. 1

    Add our snippet

Paste it into your page header next to Inspectlet's. The two run side by side without getting in each other's way.

  2. 2

    Watch the same visits

Give it a week or two on the free plan. Compare the flagged visits, the errors and how quickly you find what went wrong.

  3. 3

    Keep the one you use

Remove the other snippet. Swap any identify or tag calls for wsr.identify() and wsr.tag().

Switching questions.

Something else? Ask us and a person will answer.

Is GetSiteTape a drop-in replacement for Inspectlet?

For recording, yes: one script tag in your page header, the same place Inspectlet's goes. If your code calls Inspectlet to name visitors or tag sessions, swap those calls for wsr.identify() and wsr.tag(). If you rely on Inspectlet's A/B testing, keep a testing tool for that.

Can I import my Inspectlet recordings?

No. Recordings stay with the tool that made them. Keep your Inspectlet account until you no longer need the old ones, and run both side by side while you compare.

Will it slow my site down?

The script loads asynchronously, so it never holds up your page. It records changes to the page rather than video, and sends them in small compressed batches.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan records 1,000 visits a month you can replay, on up to 1 websites. It needs no card and does not expire.

What about privacy?

Passwords are masked in the visitor's browser before anything is sent. You can mask every form field with one switch, leave out any element with the wsr-block class, and hold recording until your cookie banner gets a yes.

Try it on your own site.
