Checkout is Shopify's
Shopify does not load your theme on its checkout pages, so they are not recorded. You still see who reached the checkout button and what happened before it.
Watch real visits to your store, from the first product page to the cart. Paste one line into your theme. No app to install.
Free for 1,000 replays a month. No card needed.
What Shopify's reports leave out
Shopify tells you how many people added to cart and how many did not. A recording shows you what happened in between. These are the kinds of things store owners find in their first week.
Shoppers tap the size names, nothing happens, and they leave the product page. Each tap shows up as a rage click.
An upsell or reviews app throws an error after a theme update, and the button stops working on phones. The error is logged with the visit.
Visitors open the cart, scroll to the total and close the tab. You see how many, and you can watch the moment it happens.
One campaign sends people to a collection when they wanted the product in the ad. They scroll, give up and go.
Session replay
You will not watch every visit, and you do not need to. Visits with rage clicks and errors are put first, and you can filter by page, so the visits to /cart or one product are a click away.

Heatmaps and scroll depth
Most Shopify traffic is on a phone, and a product page that works on your laptop can be hard to use on a small screen. Heatmaps for desktop and mobile are kept apart, and scroll depth tells you whether anyone reaches your reviews.
Included on every plan.

Errors and alerts
Themes and apps add a lot of JavaScript to a store, and an update can quietly break something. JavaScript errors and failed requests are logged with the visit they happened in, and you get an email or a Slack message when a new one appears.

You need a staff account that can edit themes. Nothing else.
In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes, click … next to your live theme and choose Edit code.
Open layout/theme.liquid, paste your snippet just before </head> and click Save.
Click around your store. The first recording is in your dashboard about ten seconds later.

The snippet lives in the theme you paste it into. When you publish a new theme, paste it into that one too.
Your own visits while you work on the store are recorded like anyone else's. Exclude your team by IP address or with a cookie.
Something else? Ask us and a person will answer.
Yes. Every Shopify theme has a layout/theme.liquid file, and that is where the snippet goes. Dawn, the other free themes and paid themes from the Theme Store all work the same way.
No. Shopify runs its checkout itself and does not load your theme's code there, so no third-party recorder can see those pages. Everything before it is recorded: the home page, collections, product pages, search and the cart, which is where most shoppers decide.
No. You paste one line into your theme. Nothing appears on your Shopify invoice, and there are no app permissions to approve.
The script loads asynchronously, so it never holds up your page. It records changes to the page rather than video, and sends them in small compressed batches.
Passwords are masked in the shopper's browser before anything is sent. You can hide every form field with one switch, leave out any part of a page with the wsr-block class, and hold recording until your cookie banner gets a yes.
Yes. The Free plan records 1,000 visits a month you can replay, on up to 1 websites. It needs no card and does not expire.

This page has kept track of your pointer and scrolling in your browser, and only there. Nothing was sent anywhere. Press the button to watch the replay.
